Informal seating

An interesting feature to Amsterdam's street scape.

Walking up to the street furniture, how it interacts with the surrounding street.

The flow of the feature doubles as an art sculpture.

This seating creates more of a relaxed area. It invites you in to explore the seating, creating a connection to people through interest, its different and I really like it.

It's suited to all generations, which connects people and begins to create a sense of connection to this feature.  Children are able to play and explore the site, building on those important motor skills, and allow an interaction between them and the site seating, and children and other people.

it's suited for older generation with benched seating, this is more easily accessed, more suited for those with mobility issues. However, there are no back supports for the benches so may become a problem for those with mobility issues if they were here to stay for long periods of time.

It's an ideal area due to it being between two places which increases the footfall through.  However, there was nothing in this area that would keep people entertained e.g., a cafe, book shop or shops, so without that attraction along the street, this space was left empty.

I think the area would have been very different at night, potentially quite uninviting due to the quiet surroundings, which is such a waste of a great structure. I can imagine if it was located in an area that had good footfall it would be really popular as its different to the norm and is a great way to informally sit.
