Red Lights

This was fun. It’s a technique where you don’t know which colours you are painting with. To achieve this you need the lights off and a strong red light on. You then choose your colours, slap it on the page, and smooth it out with a painting knives. Before I turned back on the normal light i thought I had just selected browns blacks and greys, which I mainly did but I was surprised to have also picked a blue, yellow and green.

I like this idea of painting as it takes away the pressure of realistic colours and makes it a very expressive piece. I will try this on realistic paintings so you can really see the effects of not being able to see colour and how it effects the emotion of the piece.
