The emotion importance of trees

This was incredible to capture. The same view taken 2 months apart, the first one on the 17th of September then the second picture taken on the 14th of November. The sense of place has changes completely, not just from the colour and amount of leaves but from the amount you can see of the sky and how defined the branches are in the second picture.

The colour has completely changed in the image, Partly because of the sun, no longer able to shine through the leaves but also because of the of the light levels dramatically changed from the end of summer to now making everything seem a bit gloomier than if the sun was shining.

Without the leaves it seems dead, the life of the trees looking up looks bare and scraggily, however in these pictures the autumn picture is given no justice as the vivid colours lie below on the floor.

I think trees are important in landscape because of this. It completely changes the atmosphere of a place depending on what time you visit if they are chosen and placed correctly. It creates core memories of a place, when you visit if there are vivid read trees like a field maple, that what you remember. Or the thick green canopy of a beech tree in spring and summer that you can relax under, sheltering from the shade.

Trees make places, and if you're not including them in your landscape you are doing it wrong!
