The difference green spaces can make

I loved seeing this on my Instagram feed, seeing the difference side by side really showed how impactful prioritising Suds and green space can be. This was from the page @greenblueurban, looking at a project completed in 2018, in Cardiff. 

The difference made to this street visually is incredible, it turned a dreary street into an inviting and visually pleasing street. The SuDs improved massively, the rainfall being caught and absorbed by the vegetation, reducing the water run off. It increases the biodiversity, helping pollinators have a variety of native planting. Reducing the size of the road has also prioritised sustainable transport e.g. busses, cycling and walking, a pedestrian crossing has also been added, encouraging people to use the road, and making it more accessible for those who have challenges walking. 

I hope to see more and more streets designed like this, as the benefits to the ecology are massive.
