RHS Garden 2013
This was my favourite design from Christopher Bradley, a design from The RHS gardens in 2013. This design incorporated Japanese and English influences with a play on height, through the different layers of vegetation. The Hazel trees create height , the large box Yew bushes creates structure and the grass and perennials create texture to infill the site. The garden is surrounded by a oak panel frame and the minimalistic modern pools create movement in the site.
I really like this garden as you feel fully absorbed in it. The way he has used the boarding to block out surrounding views works really well as is doesn't create a claustrophobic feel, it directs your eye to the vegetation first, framing it.
The mix in layers is my favourite thing about this design, as it gives excitement to the garden. The hidden pools are also focus of interest changing the materiality, creating another layer.
