Dan Kiley

Can you imagine a place more peaceful than this? I find it hard to.
This is the Dallas Museum of Art, designed in 1983 by Dan Kiley and architect Edward Larrabee Barnes.
For me its the colour pallet which is layered by the playful light dappled by the trees. Its almost mellow. Grey but not a gloomy grey, Its a place that's at peace, somewhere to observe, listen, see, smell and feel.
There are no people in these images so the atmosphere would completely change with 20 people in there and it would be interesting to see what it would feel like.
In Kileys work I like the use of having a powerful object to create interest in that area, Like the art sculpture, its geometric and plays with light well. This creates an overall tone for the space. The same for the water feature.
I also like the changeable light around the focus as well, The moveable chairs create a dynamic feel to the area allowing people to change the space just that tiny bit.
